It's been a little over a year since Dr. Slack did my breast reduction and it was one of the best decisions - with the best results - I've ever made. From my first appointment through the last, I felt like I was Dr. Slack's only patient. His staff was kind, personable, and recognized me on sight after my first appointment. The breast reduction itself has greatly improved my life. I no longer have to wear a huge "hoisting device" of a bra - and can go with just a light bralette - or no bra at all! And my neck/shoulder/back pain is basically gone! At one year plus after the process, my scars have almost completely disappeared. My GYN said it is some of the best work she has ever seen. I would also add that I was an insurance case which imposed extra legwork on the staff but they worked with me at every step and kept me informed. I couldn't be more pleased - actually ecstatic - with Dr. Slack and the results I got from the surgery. I was happy to see that Dr. Slack came and got me from the waiting area and we began the consultation in his office where he was able to show a complete portfolio of the procedure I was interested in. The office is beautifully decorated with artworks and it's nice to see art instead of advertisements or stock images that I usually see in offices. It's clear to see that the entire team has an eye for aesthetics and decor. The exam room was large and everything needed for the exam was within the room so no moving to multiple places. My consultation was around an hour with Dr. Slack. To be able to have an hour of time with a physician is amazing. I originally requested extra time because I knew I had 100's of questions and I know how busy schedules are. The scheduler happily stated she could accommodate my request and I 100% feel they did that. I never felt rushed. All my questions were answered fully and I never felt dumb for asking a question no matter how basic it was. I can easily make this review longer with praises. Dr. Slack has a clear passion for his practice and a desire to help and improve others lives. Dr. Slack and his team were exactly what she needed. They answered all of our questions and were thorough in explaining exactly what the process would be like. The wait was worth it for the initial consult, the procedure and all of the follow up appointments after! Dr. Slack was able to give my daughter her confidence back! She is now able to wear the clothes she wants to wear and exercise without pain and discomfort. Dr. Slack’s medical experience is impressive but it was his ability to relate to her at her age that made us know we chose the right physician! I'm 22, had a breast reduction, and my results are absolutely phenomenal after only 2 months of healing. While looking for a surgeon last year I had consults with 2 other surgeons prior to Dr. Slack. Both made me feel like they didn't care about my questions, they were in a rush, and they didn't care about me personally. Walking into Dr. Slack's office for that initial consult was a breath of fresh air because he took the time to answer all of my questions (and there were a lot). It felt like there was no time constraint, and he was incredibly professional the entire time. He was even able to show me realistic before/after photos and what healing typically looks like, and looking back I'd say he gave me the best understanding of what to expect for recovery. While the prior two surgeons I had met with seemed to have a negative outlook on breast reductions, Dr. Slack instilled lots of confidence in me regarding the likelihood of a successful surgery (and he was right). I'll never forget how on the morning of surgery, I felt quite anxious because I knew they'd have to poke me with needles for anesthesia and I'm terrible with needles. Then, Dr. Slack came in my pre-op room, and his incredibly calm demeanor instantly eased my worries. I woke up after surgery and could instantly feel the difference. If you're considering getting a breast reduction, PLEASE GET ONE! It's seriously life changing. Every post-op appointment has been just as helpful as the initial consult. I asked Dr.Slack when I was preparing for my surgery if I could go with out any pain medication. I do not like anything that might be addicting. I took the medicine he gave me after my surgery until it was done. But for pain I took Tylenol. It worked for me. So if you are someone out there that has those questions yes your pain can be controlled without anything besides Tylenol. To begin, I went to another PS for my first consultation. I was put into a room with a bunch of implant sizes and spent the majority of the time with the nurse. They took photos and the actual PS came in for less than 10 minutes. This other PS took a couple of measurements and asked me what I thought. Didn’t explain much and I left puzzled with more questions than answers. I knew I was being distracted by the glitzy Snapchat posts and it felt like a plastic surgery factory. Fast forward to my consult with Dr. Slack who was referred to me by my husband (he had seen him previously for a gynocomastia consult), the experience was completely different! Dr Slack spent one-on-one time with me in his office reviewing the differences between implant types, profiles, potential complications, his background etc. We then moved to an exam room where he took measurements, provided input on what size and implant profile would work best with my measurements and why. Very thorough. I received my surgery quote and discussed the schedule with his staff. My husband and I talked it over and I put down my deposit later that day. Prior to surgery, I went back in for my pre-consult with Dr. Slack. I brought in my wish boobie photos and we determined I liked the high profile look and confirmed the size we would star with. He took measurements again and answered all questions I had on the surgery, recovery, etc. I also threw in the armpit lipo and we discussed that procedure as well. He has a wonderful bedside manner and genuinely cares about his patients. I had my surgery yesterday. The care and attention I received from Dr. Slack has been wonderful. I’m super excited about my results and can’t wait to see what my new boobies look like once the swelling is gone. I could not recommend him enough to those looking to have a procedure done. He gave my husband his personal cell phone number after surgery. He texted him with a question on the medications and he immediately responded. Further, Dr. Slack called me later that night before he headed out to dinner to check on me. The ladies in his office are just as great. I would highly recommend Dr. Slack for breast augmentation surgery! He was absolutely wonderful! Our first visit with him was our first visit with any doctor for a consult. We weren't sure what to expect from the experience and I was a little nervous for my first consult. From the moment my husband and I walked in we were greeted by his very friendly staff and they explained that Dr. Slack would talk with us first before any examination at all. This put me at ease knowing that I was going to get a lot of questions answered right away before having to bare it all. He came in and sat across from us in his office which was very comfortable and proceeded to go through everything with us. He spent over an hour answering questions and showing us different options, and really learning what my end goal was. He also wanted to make sure that I was doing this for all the right reasons and that I was aware of all the risks involved. He never once made us feel rushed during this consult and let us sit and talk as long as we needed to feel comfortable which really helped to build a report with him. The examination was easy and I felt comfortable the whole time. My husband was in the room as well as Stephanie, one of Dr. Slack's assistants. He did measuring and manipulating my breasts so that I could get a feel for what I would like to see out of the surgery and then based on everything gave me his recommendation. I much preferred this type of consult compared to another doctor I visited where the entire consult seemed very "Hollywood" and I was just another sale. They took "before" pics and I had my exam immediately upon shaking his hand - no report was built. The surgery center that he operates at is amazing! You can really tell he cares about how his patients are treated! The entire staff there told me that he takes as much time as he needs with each patient to ensure they get exactly what they are looking for and I was in good hands. Boy were they right! I had 325cc's implants, on top of existing breast tissue, which became a DD, not at all what I wanted. Before the implants I used to work out regularly, participating in many athletic events with friends like 5K's & 10K's, etc. But after the implants the running became cumbersome because even the tightest job bra (or 2) wouldn't hold my breasts still. I became less active & ended up gaining almost 20 lbs. I neglected to properly research the impact implants would have on my life. However, I finally decided to swallow my mistake and get it fixed. I am grateful that I was referred to Dr. Charles Slack to have my implants removed. Dr. Slack is an excellent physician who came very highly recommended. He explained that the surgery would be relatively short (about an hour) and then a week or two in a compression bra to help with healing. He was right on, I am one week post op and I feel great, my incisions are well on their way to healing. I have no pain and feel lighter and more like myself than I have in a long time. Having Dr. Slack perform this surgery has been the best decision I could have ever made. In Spring 2017, I found out through biopsy that I had a severely infected intraductal papilloma in my right breast and would need surgery to remove it. My breast surgeon said that due to the fairly large size of the papilloma, removing it would cause a significant deformation, and insurance might cover a reduction and reconstruction if that was something I wanted to do. So she referred me to Dr. Slack. I can never say enough good things about Dr. Slack and his office staff. From the moment I met him at my initial appointment, Dr. Slack was warm, compassionate, and straight-forward with me, enabling me to feel comfortable and speak freely with him about my situation. When the insurance company initially denied coverage for the reduction/reconstruction portion of the surgery that I needed, he stood up for me, conducting a peer review with them to argue my need for reduction/reconstruction after removal of the lump and was able to get coverage authorization for me. And his staff were so friendly and helpful. His surgery coordinator Debbie, helped me with all the arrangments leading up to surgery, and his assistant Stephanie has always been so helpful and kind at every office visit. My surgery went well, with Dr. Slack visiting with me before and after the surgery. He cautioned me well on the need to follow his post-surgery instructions and tips for maximum healing. My breasts were so large that nipple grafting was required. I feel that in addition to his skillful surgical talent with grafting the nipples to their new positions, the tips he gave for products to use afterward for healing resulted in the best possible outcome for me. I was extra thankful for his help in getting the surgery coverage approved when afterward a biopsy of the tissue removed from each breast revealed another two papillomas in the right side, and a massive one on the left side that was bigger than all three on the right side put together! A standard mammogram had not detected any of these other papillomas. It is now almost 8 months since the surgery, and I am so happy with the results! The size and shape of each breast is perfect, and the scarring is already so greatly reduced. The "lollipop" part of each side is almost invisible already. The bottom "anchor" part is flat and significantly visually reduced already, although I think it will take a few years for those scars to disappear. (When he tells you to wear the silicone tape strips on your scars 24/7 for 4 months -- do it! You will be pleased with the results!) As anyone else who has very large natural breasts knows, there is much back pain, neck strain, headache, and other health issues resulting from constantly carrying that much weight on your chest. Overall my experience was very smooth and easy. I am currently 8 days post-op and back in the office working. I was very scared to get the surgery however I moved forward with it because, I struggled finding sports bras that fit so I can work out. I had back/shoulder issues. I didn't have too much pain after the surgery, more soreness than anything. I am still sore underneath and on the sides of my breasts. I am NOT pain tolerant. The biggest issue I have had is getting used to having much smaller breasts. I was very sad the first 4-5 days. Literally crying and not wanting to leave my home feeling like I looked without the larger size breasts. Now I am loving not wearing a bra and the lightness I feel. This change has really allowed me to see what physical changes and I need and want to make through exercise and diet. Successes so far: -Today I went to lunch and my breasts didn't sit on the table!!! OMG! They were on my chest! -I have to keep reminding myself not to slouch. -I have not worn a bra to work since the surgery! I feel so free. ***I will post pictures soon. Updated on 13 Feb 2017: This is a before picture and a after picture (2 weeks post op). Just to give an update.. I'm 2 weeks and 4 days post op today. My scars are healing really well. I'm using a scar cream I purchased at the doctor's office. I'm getting shooting pains every now and then in both breasts. I believe my surgeon said that was due to the nerves coming back to life. I've noticed my skin looking dry and scaly all over my breasts and today it's really shedding/peeling. It's strange because sometimes I feel like my skin is sore although it looks normal besides the dryness. Also, I have open wounds where the the skin opened up underneath in the T (center) of the anchor cut under both breasts. The wounds look gross and I am following the doctor's instructions to care for them. Hopefully they heal fast. I finally landed on Dr. Slack's website. I liked what I read and decided to go in for a consult. He took his time and was very thorough with his answers--and I had a lot of questions! The consult went well and he ended it by saying it was my decision to make. I knew I had the right doctor. Even after my procedure he and his staff always responded to my calls and concerns promptly, even getting me seen the same or next day. I have had several surgeries and Dr. Slack has been by far my best experience from the quality of work, patience and great bed side manner. I am totally pleased with the results and grateful I listened to Dr. Slack's advice to get the "right" amount of tissue removed. He made sure that he resolved the medical problems from having large breast while ensuring I looked good and was appropriately proportioned. I suffered from headaches, neck, back and shoulder pain. I thought I would always have to be miserable until I walked into Dr. Slack's office. I can't possible say enough good things about Dr. Slack and his staff. It has been a little over 2 years since my breast reduction and I couldn't be more satisfied with my results. The second I woke up in the recovery room, I could tell a huge difference. I went from a 44F to a 42C and my quality of life improved drastically. Every day I notice something else that is easier for me. I will be forever grateful for the quality of care I received. I could not have asked for a more caring doctor. His bedside manner is outstanding. He made sure I was well informed during the whole process. The way I was treated post-op, I knew I made the best decision on my choice of doctor. Dr. Slack reviewed all the options available and we opted to go with a combination of Sculptra, Viva & Freeze. The results were amazing. The wrinkles are either gone or almost gone. The creases in my forehead are minimal. My neck has shown great improvement - my neck is smoother and the "jowls" are gone. This is the most amazing procedure and each treatment shows improvement. My circle of friends had no idea what to expect but expected the worst. To my surprise the surgery was pain free and did not effect my lifestyle only improved. I look better in my clothes and feel better without large breast. No more neck and back pain. After several hours of research, I decided to contact Dr. Slack's office. His staff was very responsive and was able to schedule a consultation for me right away. Upon meeting with Dr. Slack, he was very open about what options I had and which procedures might offer me the best result. I even asked him about a procedure that would have cost more, and he clearly explained to me why that would likely be unnecessary. I felt as though he was very honest and straightforward with me. In addition to not charging me for an initial consultation, he also offered, upon my request, to extract the fluid from my intact implant, as I was feeling self-conscious about my appearance. After seeing Dr. Slack, I attempted to find another surgeon to get a 2nd opinion, and quickly discovered that most wanted money for a consultation, and some were very aggressive in getting my contact information before even allowing me to ask about their procedures and experience. I decided to follow heart in that I really did trust Dr. Slack, and elected to have him perform my procedure without getting a 2nd opinion. My experience was very positive. I am a 35 yr old mom of 3 beautiful girls. 2 of which are twins and they did a number on my stomach. I was doing crossfit 4-5 days a week for 4 years after twins were born and my tummy was not improving. I had wrinkled skin and extra skin that kept my tummy from being tight. I had a breast implant revision and Dr. Slack did an amazing job. He is truly an artist. I had consultations with 3 other surgeons before seeing him and knew right away that he was the most qualified and trustworthy. His bedside manner was also superior to that of others I met with. He listened well, explained things thoroughly, and didn't leave me with unrealistic expectations. In the end, my expectations were exceeded and I'm very happy with the result. I had high profile implant previously and desired a smaller, more natural look. He was able to downsize me, change the implant profile, and I did not need a lift (that I absolutely didn't want, so I was thrilled. My nipple placement ended up just right without one). Other surgeons wouldn't even schedule my procedure or price it without a lift involved. The operating facility he uses was the best I have ever been to and his staff is wonderful. My entire experience from start to finish was so much better than I expected and had experienced before. I wouldn't go to any other surgeon.Posted on RealselfBNJ Fairview, Tx3617 days ago59 Yrs Old, Breast Implant Removal, Feeling More Matronly Than Voluptuous - Allen, TX After 30+ years of having breast implants I was feeling more matronly than voluptuous at 59 years old. When my latest mammogram showed a rupture/leak of the left breast implant I opted to have them removed and not replaced. I am in the 'wait and see' mode for the next 4-6 months before I will know the final shape and size of my natural breasts. I can always opt for implants again if I don't like the final result. I am already fairly happy even though I am still considered early in the post-op period. I have had some fluid collection in the left breast which has required a few extra office visits to draw off the fluid and has required an extended time in the compression garment/sports bra. No big deal...and also no surprise, as the surgery, risks, complications, etc were all explained in detail to me by Dr. Slack at my pre-op visit. My questions were answered and I felt fully informed. It was really an easy surgery, no pain medicine required and I was able to return to work on Monday. My procedure was performed at The Texas Health Surgery Center Craig Ranch. The facility was clean and well organized. I found the staff to be very friendly and professional. They have a nice waiting room for family and provide hot coffee/tea while they wait. I would recommend this surgery center and would return there again myself. Now, the best part for last - Dr. Slack! What a genuinely nice man! I initially discovered him when I ran across an article about him in the Allen Magazine. I liked what he had to say about focusing on his relationship with the patient- from exam to surgery to post-op visits....and he truly puts these words into action every time I see him. I really appreciate knowing that my health and my concerns are his priority when I am I front of him. In addition to his wonderful bedside manner, it is important to me (and it should be to you too) that he is board-certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery. This means he is qualified and highly trained to perform plastic and reconstructive surgery. There are a lot of "cosmetic surgeons" out there so don't be fooled - do your homework! Bottom line - I have been most pleased and impressed with my care. Dr. Slack and his staff are exemplary in all areas of compassionate, quality care and I highly recommend, at the very least, a consultation with him if you are considering a cosmetic procedure. Two things that stand out - 1) HE came out to the waiting room to get me when I had my first consultation with him. I thought this was such a nice gesture. 2) HE thanked ME for placing my trust in him to do my surgery. Wow! How often do you hear that?! Although I know my final results are still to come I am already very pleased with my results. I had my first consult with Dr. Slack in 2011 when I thought I needed a lift. Dr. Slack told me that although he was willing to do a lift he did not think I needed it as I had a very natural look. His honest and integrity is why I returned to him in 2016.
